We have been working since 2016 to perfect our little herd of beef cattle. We started with a Zebu Bull named Zeke. The Zebu breed originated in India and is extremely heat tolerant and insect resistant. The breed is as perfectly at home in the Okefenokee Swamp as it is in its native India.
We then invested in the Lowline Cattle. These hardy little cattle are the result of 60 years of research into the best practice for feed efficiency on traditional grass pastures of Australia, which is very similiar to our climate in Georgia. (History)
We Introduced Dairy breeds, Dexter and Jersey to make the meat more tender and the mothering tendencies stronger. Even though a great deal of research has gone into our herd, we have also learned a lot along the way. For example, we discovered that flies prefer black cows instead of the red and tan, so we have kept more of the female calves in red and tan shades. We found resources through the USDA that are available to the small cattle producers, such as DNA testing for simple traits for A1A2 Milk genes in dairy cows and complicated trait combinations beef producers are looking for when looking for a thousand replacement heifers.
Our Bulls
Why would you NOT want this wonderful "Docility" gene in your herd?
If your cows are NOT trotting around constantly, that is energy they could be putting toward growing new calves. Steers that are calm, put on more weight, when they are walking, not running around the pasture. The biggest gain from the "Docility Gene" is your pasture. When Cattle are walking around instead of causing a stampede everywhere they go, their feet actually help the pasture by gently breaking up the top layer for water to penetrate the soil.
Teddy Bear
Lowline Red Angus
High on Dociliity Scale, High on Marbling Scale, Crossed with Zebu Cows makes excellent Heat tolerant calves. Or crossed with Jersey or Dexter Cows for super tender steaks. Bred Heifers available now.
Romeo
Miniature Hereford
All of our Bulls are High on Dociliity Scale, but Romeo really takes Laid Back to new Heights. He is Calm, Cool and Collected. Unless we actually make him, he just doesn't do much running around.
X-Nex
Miniature Hereford x Zebu
X-Nex is a cross of Miniature Hereford and Zebu. He is Quite Unique in coloration. His mother is Strawbery Shortcake and his father is Zeke. You really can't tell from looking at him, and the neighbors that can't see him are convinced he sounds like a donkey. So without a DNA test no one would know his ancestry. (His full brother is for sale.)
Luke the Zangus
The Brangus breed was developed to utilize the superior traits of Angus and Brahman cattle. We have created the miniature version of this by crossing the Zebu with Lowline Angus. And Luke is our calm, cool, easy going bull, that shows what it looks like.
FARM VISIT BY APPOINTMENT ONLY
Miniature Cows, Bulls and Calves for Sale.
This is Not a Petting Zoo.
Please Be Aware
This is a working farm.
Animals are unpredictable.
Our Miniature Cattle are between 250 and 500 pounds. They may kick, head butt, and walk right over you. This is a dangerous place for small children. Please make plans for another adult to accompany you to supervise children while you ask questions and interact with animals. The cows, especially the younger calves are fascinated with children. They want to play. Which can become a small rodeo.
